School Board Honors Local Students for Achievement in Music

The Assumption Parish School Board recently recognized those Assumption Parish High School students who won chair placements in the 2025 Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA) District VII Honor Bands.

Those outstanding music students include Slade Thibodeaux, 1st Chair for Flute; Kylee Gaudet, 14th Chair for Clarinet; and Gary Rodrigue, 2nd Chair for Baritone Saxophone.

The LMEA sponsors several ensembles for music students, including two options for outstanding high school band members -- the Symphonic Band and Concert Band. Band students are selected as a result of district (first round) and state (second round) auditions. District VII participants include students from Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. John, St. Mary, and Terrebonne parishes, as well as areas west of the Mississippi River in Ascension and St. James parishes.
