Principal, Teachers and Support Staff of the Year Honored by Assumption Parish Schools
Assumption Parish school leaders held an awards ceremony on January 7 to honor those teachers, principal and staff who were selected as the district’s top winners of the year, earning them the right to compete among the state’s top professionals. Nominees from each school were also recognized.
All nominees and winners gathered at an awards ceremony at Assumption High School, sponsored by Savoie Engineering, followed by recognition at the Assumption Parish School Board meeting. Family, friends and work colleagues joined in the events, and refreshments were provided.
“This was a great evening to recognize and celebrate some of our top professionals whose hard work and dedication day-in and day-out make our school system a strong, safe learning environment,” Superintendent Dr. John Barthelemy said. “We appreciate their commitment to excellence, and we are proud to present our top winners as representatives of our district in this year’s state competitions.”

Teachers:
· Taylor Gauthreaux, Bayou L'Ourse Elementary – Assumption Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year
· Shantell Mitchell, Belle Rose Elementary
· Sarah Daigle, Labadieville Elementary
· Yvette Gregoire, Napoleonville Elementary
· Emily Zeringue, Pierre Part Elementary
· Cherise Boudreaux, Labadieville Elementary – Assumption Parish Early Childhood Teacher of the Year
· Brittney LeBlanc, 7th/8th Grade Academy – Assumption Parish Middle School Teacher of the Year
· Sgt. Eric Hue, Assumption High
· Olivia Neal, Assumption High – Assumption Parish High School Teacher of the Year
Support Staff:
· Amy Loupe, Bayou L'Ourse Elementary – Assumption Parish Support Staff Worker of the Year

Those district-level winners will advance to the regional competition to vie for Louisiana’s top award in each category. Those state winners will be announced in the spring.
