The Assumption 7th & 8th Grade Academy recently honored some of the community’s more senior members during a special Grandparents Day event. Students invited their grandparents to visit the campus and to play cards and board games with the students.
Assumption Educator Selected for LDOE Teachers Advisory Council
Renee Fields, Assumption Parish School Teacher
The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) recently announced that Renee Fields, a teacher at Assumption High School, will be among the 14 educators who have been selected to serve a four-year term on the Teachers Advisory Council, beginning with this school year.
Public applications for the open seats were released in May, and members were named last month.
Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley created the Teachers Advisory Council in response to Senate Concurrent Resolution 33 (2022) to enhance the teacher’s voice and gather educator feedback on current education initiatives and how Louisiana can continue to improve student outcomes.
The council meets with state leaders on a quarterly basis to discuss issues, laws, rules, and policies affecting teachers and students. The council has provided feedback on topics including Let Teachers Teach, math, literacy, attendance, accountability, and teacher recruitment.

Assumption 7th & 8th Grade Academy Inducts Beta Club Members

The Assumption 7th & 8th Grade Academy held is Beta Club Induction Ceremony to announce members for the 2026-2027 school year. Students and their family members gathered at the school’s gym for the ceremony.
Forty-six 7th graders and fifteen 8th graders were inducted, bringing the club’s total membership to 88.
At the ceremony, the club also named its executive members. They are Adalyn Talbot, Madison Richard, Annabelle McGuyer, Paisley Guillory, Caroline Gregoire, Addilyn Cousin, Jaxson Breaux, and Violet Boudreaux.
The students inducted into the Beta Club this year include:

Assumption Schools Partners with Our Lady of the Lake to Host Community Event
Assumption Parish Schools and Our Lady of the Lake Assumption Community Hospital have teamed up to host a Disney-themed “Not So Scary Community Halloween Bash” on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Assumption Parish Community Center.
This is a free event. Businesses and community sponsors are invited to participate.
