Louisiana Ranks First Among States in AP Growth Since 2019
Louisiana has posted the largest increase of any state since 2019 in the share of Advanced Placement (AP®) Exams earning a qualifying score, according to new statewide data released by the College Board. Louisiana’s AP score rate has improved at more than twice the national rate of growth in that timespan and now sits just two points off the national average.
An AP Exam score of 3, 4, or 5 can qualify high school students for college credit at many colleges and universities.
Assumption High School offers students a variety of AP and dual-credit classes in partnership with Southeastern Louisiana University, Nicholls, and Fletcher Community College. The current list of courses includes Biology II DE- Bio 1013, English III DE - Eng 1010, English IV DE - Eng 1020, Fine Arts DE, Psychology DE, Speech DE, STAR DE, Western Civilization 1013, and AP Human Geography. Nearly 200 students are currently enrolled in those classes.
The share of Louisiana AP Exams earning a qualifying score rose from 37.4 percent in 2019 to 69.1 percent in 2026, a gain of 31.7 percentage points. Louisiana continues to close in on the national average. In 2019, the share of Louisiana AP Exams earning a qualifying score trailed the national average by 20.5 percentage points. In 2026, the gap is only 2.2 points.
In 2019, students earned 11,118 qualifying scores. Louisiana public school students earned 21,383 qualifying scores on AP Exams in 2026.

Regular Attendance is Essential
Regular school attendance is essential because it directly impacts a student's academic growth, social development, and long-term success.
Attendance can predict a student’s success. Reports show students who regularly attend school are three-times more likely to read on grade level by 3rd grade, have a higher chance of graduating high school on time, and are better college and career prospects.
Assumption Parish Schools is committed to supporting strong attendance for all its students.
Parents are encouraged to contact their child’s school or the central office if they need assistance is overcoming truancy issues.
