Registration Underway for Daycare, Head Start & Preschool
Parents of toddlers and pre-school aged children can now register their children for education services in the district. Applications are being accepted through March 27 for the Round 1 period. Round 2 begins after that.
Assumption Parish Schools Early Childhood Office is taking applications for:
· Daycare at Les Petits Amis or Cribs to Crayons facilities, for those children under the age of 3;
· Head Start, for those children who turn 3 years old by Sept. 30, 2024; and
· Preschool, for those children who turn 4 years old by Sept. 30, 2024.
Registration applications can be picked up outside each primary school in the car rider area or at the Head Start Office in Napoleonville; or printed out from an electronic file at www.assumptionshools.com.
Information required to be submitted with the applications include the child’s birth certificate, social security card and current immunization record, proof of income and residency, as well as custody papers, if applicable.
District Recruiting Teachers and Bus Drivers
Assumption Parish Schools recently initiated an aggressive campaign to seek out applicants for teaching and bus driving positions. As part of the effort, the district posted a outdoor sign near Donaldsonville.
“Attracting and retaining skilled, certified teachers is a top priority,” Dr. John Barthelemy said. “Our success as a school system relies heavily on our ability to staff each classroom with top-level educator. At the same time, we must also have the skilled drivers to transport our many students to and from our campuses.”
Dr. Barthelemy noted that available job positions are publicly advertised and poste on the district’s Frontline board, which can be found by clicking VACANCIES under the Employment Tab at the top right of the district’s home web page, www.assumptionschools.com.
Educators Learn How to Better Utilize Online Assessment and Instruction Platform
The district’s teachers in grades 4-8 recently participated in a professional development program for i-Ready, an online assessment and instruction platform. The program helps teachers provide all students with a path to proficiency and growth in reading and mathematics.
i-Ready is an online program for reading and/or mathematics that will help your student’s teacher(s) determine your student’s needs, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows your teacher(s) to meet your student exactly where they are and provides data to increase your student’s learning gains. i-Ready consists of two parts: Diagnostic and Personalized Instruction.
