Assumption High School Anglers Alexander Blanchard and Noah Deshotel qualified to compete in the 2023 Strike King Bassmaster High School Championship, July 27-29, 2023, at Lake Hartwell in South Carolina. The national tournament is presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors. Both Blanchard and Deshotel graduated in May 2023.

The top three anglers from the overall standings will earn the title of “Nation’s Best,” which includes prizes as follows: the use of a fully rigged tournament boat for a year, an invitation to join the Bassmaster Elite Series and a cash prize. The second- and third-place finishers and non-boater champion will each earn paid entry fees for all divisions of the St. Croix Bassmaster Opens with the opportunity to qualify for the Elites.

 

Summer Food Service Program Available

The Assumption Parish School Board is participating in the Seamless Summer Food Program.  Meals are being provided to all children without charge.  Acceptance and participating requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability; and there will be no discrimination in the meal service.

Meals are being provided at the following sites and times:

Assumption High School (4880 Hwy 308, Napoleonville, LA 70390)

Breakfast – 7:30 a.m. to 7:40 a.m.

Lunch – 10:50 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

(Available to 9th-12th Graders)

 

Napoleonville Middle School (4847 Hwy 1, Napoleonville, LA 70390)

Breakfast – 7:50 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

Lunch – Noon to 12:20 p.m.

(Available to 6th-8th Graders)

 

Napoleonville Primary School (185 Hwy 1008, Napoleonville, LA 70390)

Breakfast – 8:10 a.m. to 8:20 a.m.

Lunch – 11:20 a.m. to 11:40 a.m.

(Available to 3rd Graders)

Lunch -- 12:20 p.m. to 12:40 p.m.

(Available to 4th-5th Graders)

School food managers ask that parents advise the C.N.P. Office a day prior that their child will be eating breakfast or lunch at one of the listed school sites to ensure enough food is prepared in advance.

District Offers Free Substitute Bus Driver Classes

Assumption Parish Public Schools is now looking for substitute bus drivers for the 2023-2024 school year.  Candidates were able to take advantage of free pre-service classes June 12-15 and June 19-20 to become a certified substitute bus driver. The classes were held at the district’s warehouse in Napoleonville.

Students Who Enroll in Camp BOOK IT! Can Earn Free Pizza

The Book It! Program is now enrolling students in its free reading incentive program for this summer. Students ages 4-12, in grades Pre-K to 6th grade, are encouraged to set a reading goal for the months of June, July and August. Once students meet their declared goals, they can receive a Reading Award Certificate and a one-topping personal pan pizza from the local Pizza Hut.
