A Note From Our Superintendent Regarding the Proposed Reduction of MFP Appropriation

Urgent: Executive Order JML #26-047 implications on the Assumption Parish School System Employees, Students and Communities

I hope this message finds you well. As Superintendent, I believe it is important to keep our employees informed about issues that have the potential to significantly impact our school system, our students, and each of you as valued members of our educational community.

There has been considerable discussion regarding the Governor's recent proposal related to employee compensation. I want to be clear that our district strongly supports meaningful, permanent salary increases for all school employees. Our teachers, support staff, administrators, and operational personnel have dedicated themselves to serving students, often while navigating increasing responsibilities without the level of compensation they deserve. Many of these conversations regarding competitive pay are long overdue.

At the same time, it is our responsibility to carefully evaluate how proposed legislation and funding decisions may affect the financial stability of our district. The attached statements outlines our concerns regarding the current proposal and the potential consequences it would have on educational programs, student services, and the overall operation of our schools if additional state funding is not provided.

I encourage you to review the information carefully. Transparency and open communication are essential as we work together to advocate for solutions that both honor the commitment of our employees and protect the opportunities we provide for students.

Thank you for your continued dedication to the children and families of Assumption Parish. Your work makes a difference every day, and I remain committed to advocating for compensation solutions that support all employees without compromising the quality of education our students deserve.
