District Honors Outstanding Employees

Winners of Principal of the Year and Teachers of the Year Announced

Assumption Parish school leaders recently announced the winners of this year’s Teacher and Principal of the Year awards, which recognize the professionalism and dedication of the district’s educators in advancing student learning on their campuses.

Labadieville Elementary Principal Melanie Bellamy was named the 2025-2026 Assumption Parish Principal of the Year winner.

The district’s Teacher of the Year winners include High School Teacher of the Year Olivia Neal, Assumption High School; Middle School Teacher of the Year Brittney LeBlanc, 7th & 8th Grade Academy; Elementary Teacher of the Year Taylor Gauthreaux, Bayou L’Ourse Elementary; and Early Childhood Teacher of the Year Cherise Boudreaux, Labadieville Elementary.

Superintendent Dr. John Barthelemy and central office staff members made surprise visits to the winners’ campuses this month to present them with the news of them winning their respective awards.

“Congratulations to these outstanding educators for being recognized for their professionalism. Their dedication to the students and families of Assumption Parish are a part of what makes our district so special,” Dr. Barthelemy said. “We wish them all the best as thy move on to the Louisiana Department of Education’s state-level competitions in their respective categories.”

As district-level winners, each educator will advance to the regional competition to vie for Louisiana Teacher of the Year or Louisiana Principal of the Year. State finalists are selected from each region in the state for the competition. The state winners will be announced next summer.
