The McKinney-Vento Act and Community Assistance

The McKinney-Vento Education of Homeless Children and Youth Assistance Act is a federal law that ensures educational stability and promotes immediate school enrollment for homeless children and youth. The main goals of this law are to:

  • Ensure immediate enrollment in schools

  • Eliminate barriers to enrollment

  • Provide access to educational resources and support academic success

  • Identify children and youth in need

  • Remove obstacles that prevent attendance at school.

Assumption Parish Schools is proud to support eligible families this year by offering uniform and coat vouchers, school supplies, and hygiene kits. We are dedicated to serving the students and families in our community.
