Assumption Parish Students Earn 2nd Place in Louisiana’s Science and Engineering Fair

Pierre Part Elementary students Mia Landry and Kennedie Crochet recently won 2nd place in the Junior Division of the Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair for their entry in the Biomedical and Health Science category.

Assumption Parish Public School students Mia Landry and Kennedie Crochet recently earned a 2nd Place Award in the Junior Division of the Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair for their entry in the Biomedical and Health Science category.

Landry and Crochet, who attend Pierre Part Elementary, presented an informational display titled “What’s Really In Your Water?” The display focused on the varying pH levels in bottled waters.  The presentation noted that pH is the measurement of electrically charged particles in a substance, which indicates how acidic or alkaline the substance is.

“We are very proud of our students for investing the knowledge they have gained in this project. Congratulations to them and to their teachers who worked with them to get them this far,” said Superintendent Dr. John Barthelemy.

The state fair was held in April at the LSU Student Union, where students from across the state competed in various categories. The event was supported by CLECO.
