Message from the Superintendent

Greetings Assumption Parish Schools Family,

We are excited to welcome our students back for the 2020-2021 school year. During the last five months, our team anxiously waited for the day of reconnecting with our students and families. Whether virtually or on-site, having our students partake invaluable instruction is our priority in Assumption Parish Schools.

Over the last few days, our administrators, teachers, and other staff members have been preparing for another successful school year. Although we have new procedures to follow and many safety standards to implement, we are confident that our team will make every effort to ensure safety while transporting, feeding, and providing students with the standards and skills needed to be successful.

While we understand that the uncertainty of this school year may pose many challenges, we are confident in our team's ability and community's positive attitude to overcome any obstacle we face. It takes a village, and we know that all communities in Assumption Parish will work hard to adjust to our new way of providing educational resources to our students. We will not be defeated, as we have too much at stake. Our plans will continuously change and be fluid as we will be flexible to address the many unknowns we may face. "We're All In" and we will not waiver on establishing guidelines and creating protocols to support our students' success.

We are encouraged by our stakeholders' dedication to our public school system.  To continuously provide on-site education, we will need assistance from our families. As we prepare to receive students back on our campuses, please adhere to the following reminders.

  • Families are to take temperatures of students daily before going to school. If your child has a fever of 100.4 or higher, they should stay home.

  • Families are encouraged to monitor students for symptoms and seek medical guidance if necessary.

  • Remind students to wash their hands and frequently sanitize throughout the day.

  • We require face coverings for Grades 3 through 12. Please wear school appropriate face coverings.

  • Pack students a bottle of water. Water fountains at schools will be unavailable.

  • Remind your child to adhere to safety protocols.

  • Encourage your child to speak with an adult if they feel uncomfortable at any time during the school day.

We are looking forward to a great start of a new school year. While things will be different, know that the passion of serving the students in Assumption Parish will guide our daily decisions. Educators and staff members across Assumption Parish have your children's best interests at the forefront of all decisions. "We're All In" this together, and being 6 feet apart will not distract us from our mission.

Kindest regards,
Anya B. Randle, Interim Superintendent
