Motivational Speaker Addresses High School Students and Parents

Motivational Speaker Donovan Tolbert shared his story, “Overcome Your Impossible,” at Assumption High’s Family Night.

Gold medalist and top-ranked athlete Donovan Tolbert spoke this month to the Assumption High School community, sharing his story of how his parents and school community helped him to develop successful strategies to succeed in sports and later, in his speaking career.

As the guest speaker for the school’s Family Night, Tolbert told how his journey was one of perseverance and triumph. As a former NCAA Division 1 athlete, Donovan said he faced challenges of being overlooked and underestimated, but his passion for the triple jump drove him to break personal, school, and fieldhouse records, allowing him to be a two-time gold medalist and secure a top 9 national ranking by ESPN.

Donovan said he is paying forward the support he received by sharing his story, “Overcome Your Impossible” with more than 100,000 students, student-athletes, coaches, administrators, support staff and parents.

Both Esneault and Clause are members of the Assumption High Future Farmers of America school organization.

Youth development programs, such as 4-H and FFA, provide opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills, gain knowledge about agriculture and other industries, and build relationships with peers and adults. Through these programs, youth also learn important life skills such as decision-making, communication, and problem-solving.
