Assumption Parish Schools Advertise Teacher Pay Incentives

District’s Teacher Recruiting Campaign includes Billboards, Social Media Posts and Direct Mail Efforts

Billboards like this can be seen in the region, helping Assumption Parish Schools promote its strong message that teachers can get paid for their experience in Assumption Parish.

Maintaining a skilled, certified teacher workforce in the district’s classrooms at every level is a primary strategy of Assumption Parish Schools to improve the quality of its workforce and overall academic excellence.

The district is undertaking a recruiting campaign to attract new and experienced teachers to bolster its existing workforce of certified professionals.

Assumption Parish school leaders are offering a signing bonus to teachers new to the system. In addition, they are promoting that they provide the highest pay in the region for teachers with 10-plus years of experience and the highest step pay index in the area.

At the same time, the district is strengthening its professional development for classroom instruction, making Assumption Schools a more supportive, nurturing environment for teachers.

“It’s not sufficient to say you support teachers. You have to work on it actively,” Superintendent John Barthelemy said. “That’s why one of the most important components of our strategic plan is to support our teachers and invest in them.”

The district is sending out its strong message through local billboards, social media posts, and a direct mail campaign.

“We want to reach out to experienced educators and those young prospects who see education as a possible career. Assumption Parish Schools offers several employment opportunities to contribute to one’s quality of life as an educator,” said Human Resources Director Shannon Clement.

Clement noted that teachers employed outside of Assumption Parish who are interested in getting paid for their experiences and learning more about the district could apply online at AssumptionSchools.com or call his office at 985-369-7251.
