New Superintendent Selected
On May 2, 2018, the Assumption Parish School Board voted Mr. Jeremy Couvillion Superintendent of the Assumption Parish School District.
Jeremy Couvillion grew up in Avoyelles Parish and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1998. He attended LSU in Baton Rouge where he majored in Elementary Education. He worked in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System as a teacher and an administrator for 15 years.
In 2017, Mr. Couvillion was named East Baton Rouge Parish Middle School Principal of the Year when Westdale Middle School, the largest middle school in the parish (950-plus students), had the highest state performance score growth of any school in the district, moving the school from a C letter grade to a B.
He has also been active in the Instructional Leaders for Tomorrow program, pairing aspiring principals with active ones for guidance and field training.
In his free time he loves spending time with his family--wife Johanna and three daughters, Maria, Madeline, and Julia. He also mentors people who have been diagnosed with cancer, something Mr. Couvillion has first-hand experience dealing with.
